The challenge this week at Miss Rumphius Effect is to write a poem using Anaphora. Anaphora is “the repetition of the same word or phrase in several successive clauses.”
At this moment ….
At this moment a black and yellow butterfly
Frolics upon an invisible wind wave,
At this moment I listen as playful children banter
While intently role-playing hunters in a cave.
Nevertheless this is a hard place to live
Poverty offering very little give.
At this moment the pleading yells of hungry
Puppies, and a goat destined to die, fill the air,
At this moment children banging on the gate
To make our dogs irate, makes my son despair.
Nevertheless hope mingles with the tears
As best-friend-Michael does appear.
At this moment the radiant smile of a bicycle
Taxi pedlar, fills me with wonder,
At this moment a small child proudly drags
A self-made, rectangular carton car yonder.
Nevertheless the midday sun pounds down
Attempting to pulverize one into the ground.
At this moment my heart fills with fear
At the thought of another year here,
At this moment depression lurks in the shadows
As my career path heads for the gallows,
Nevertheless this is the day that the Lord has made
And I will rejoice and be glad in it.
This was certainly something to learn from..
Anaphora stay cool
i am going to use you soon 🙂
Good poem!!
